Students from Coopers and Bush recently competed in a Collison Repair competition in Buffalo. In total, 5 students competed in the Western New York Auto Collision Competition, hosted by @AutoCollisionandglassWNY . They have been hosting the contest for a number of years to promote Collision Repair and have the students showcase their skills.
The competition was divided into 2 groups - Juniors and Seniors.
Seniors competed in 3 categories - Estimating, plastic repair, and refinishing.
Juniors competed in 3 different categories - Dent repair, part identification, and paint mixing.
They awarded the top 2 in each of the 3 categories, and then an overall winner. There were numerous competitors from schools throughout Western New York.
GST had a great showing!
* Jayden Hall (Bush Campus) from @ElmiraCitySchoolDistrict won 2nd place in the plastic repair competition and received a $75 gift card.
* Robert McNeill (Coopers Campus) from @AddisonCentralSchoolDistrict won 2nd place in part identification, 1st place in dent repair, and 1st place overall! He received $150 in gift cards and a 3M spray gun.
* Bryce Harris (Coopers Campus) from @campbellsavona won 2nd place in refinishing, 1st place in estimating, and 1st place overall! He also received $150 in gift cards and a 3M spray gun. His class also gets bragging rights to show off the trophy until next years competition!

GST BOCES Bush Campus and STEM Academy will operate on a two-hour delay today, Monday, December 16, 2024, for students and instructional staff only. All others will remain open.


Coopers Automotive Technology students recently took a trip to Rochester to see behind the scenes at the Garber Automotive Group. They toured the Porsche and Honda/Acura service centers in addition to the collision repair facility. They finished the trip off with lunch and team building at Lasertron. Bush Campus culinary class has been doing a lot of baking, including cookies for each sending district bus garage as a thank you for all they do. The seniors conducted a cookie exchange and worked with Phoenix Academy to teach a few students how to make gingerbread men. #PROUDTOBEGST #CommunityOrientedatGSTBOCES #GSTBOCEScomponentdistricts



Coopers Campus SkillsUSA Officers and Advisors attended Sparkle on Market Street recently. They set up a display to highlight SkillsUSA on the Coopers Campus and to promote their upcoming Stocking Stuffer project with Steuben County Meals on Wheels. In addition, they handed out free popcorn and spoke with the public about the upcoming Splash Pad project and to promote their first 5K/Fun Run!
