What are our Instructional Support Services?

GST BOCES Instructional Support Services provide support to teachers, administrators and staff of component districts in the greater Southern Tier region. Our skilled staff is available to help you meet the needs of your students.

Instructional Support Services include:

  • Teacher Center

    • The Greater Southern Tier Teacher Center strives to enrich educator practice by providing meaningful and innovative teacher-lead professional learning. With the motto “for teachers, by teachers” we recognize our local teachers as agents of change and help to empower them as they enrich the lives of students in their classrooms. Incorporating the latest pedagogical research and best practices, we provide opportunities that promote both teacher excellence and academic achievement for all students.

  • Shared Supervision (CoSer 318)

    • Administratively certified staff assist districts with professional duties including teacher supervision and evaluation.

  • Arts in Education (CoSer 401)

    • This is a shared service that extends instructional opportunities for students based on The Arts Standards.These activities may take place in your school setting by bringing an artist to work with students or outside of the school setting at museums, theaters, dance studios, etc. The key element of any student activity is the focus on the Arts as it relates to the NYS Learning Standards.

  • Adventure Based Learning (CoSer 403B)

    • ABL offers team building activities for students and adults to nurture a range of prosocial skills such as communication, problem solving, leadership, trust, safety, respect and cooperation. We can come to your school, or you can join us on our ropes course located on the beautiful GST BOCES Bush campus.

  • Exploratory Enrichment (CoSer 426)

    • Exploratory Enrichment extends instruction based on the Learning Standards to curriculum-based activities for any curriculum area outside the arts. These activities may take place in your school setting, at various museums, college campuses, observatories, science centers, nature centers, etc.

  • E-Learning (CoSer 430)

    • E-Learning provides access to a range of teaching and learning opportunities using internet-based technologies.

  • Community Schools Resources (CoSer 500)

    • Community Schools Resources CoSer will assist to organize and contract with not-for-profit agencies to coordinate partnerships with local service providers to deliver school-linked academic, health, mental health, nutrition, counseling, legal and/or other services to students and their families in a manner that will lead to improved educational and other outcomes.

  • Curriculum Coordinators (CoSer 506)

    • This service is provided by certified administrators who coordinate and administer all aspects of curriculum development and instruction to improve student academic achievement and well-being.

  • School Library Services (CoSer 508 & CoSer 513)

    • School Library Services (SLS) provides library services and resources to all 21 GST districts and all GST campuses. Our mission is to empower, support, and advocate for member school librarians to aid in the creation of quality school library programs essential to teaching and learning in an ever-changing world. Our offices are located on Coopers Campus in Building 1.

  • Instructional Technology (CoSer 512)

    • Instructional Technology is a comprehensive service that involves the purchase of instructional hardware and software and support of these initiatives.The program also supports each district in planning processes for instructional technology, including the research, evaluation, and facilitation of software and hardware used to support curriculum and instruction to improve student academic achievement and well-being.

  • Academic All Stars (CoSer 514)

    • The Academic All Stars Program is a “Jeopardy” style competition using NYS curriculum for questions.

  • Grant Writing (CoSer 516)

    • The Grants team procures public and private grant funds for educational programs within participating school districts.

  • Home Instruction (CoSer 518)

    • This service assists school districts in the required responsibilities for students who are instructed at home.

  • Staff Development (CoSer 525)

    • Instructional Support Teachers provide a blend of push-in and pull-out professional learning to assist teachers with all aspects of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

  • Instructional Materials Development (CoSer 527)

    • The Science Center provides materials and kits for inquiry-based science programs that meet NYS Learning Standards.

  • Model Schools (CoSer 536)

    • The Model Schools program is an instructional technology planning and implementation process for the curriculum-driven use of technology. Activities provided within this technology-related service include planning, curriculum and staff development, assessment, and regional collaboration.

  • School and Curriculum Improvement Planning (CoSer 537)

    • This service (referred to as SIP) offers a range of support to assist districts with their plans to meet NYS Learning Standards, including Data Analysis Services.
